It's Miss America Week!

Next Saturday, January 15th at 9pm, the 2011 Miss America will be crowned on ABC at 9pm! The Miss America pageant is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year!

The pageant began in 1921 as a bathing beauty contest to promote tourism after Labor Day in Atlantic City, New Jersey. 16 Year old Margaret Gorman was the first Miss America. This year, 53 women will be competing for the title (50 states+Miss District of Columbia+Miss Virgin Islands+Miss Puerto Rico) 



This past Thursday (January 6th) the contestants arrived in Las Vegas to begin the pageant festivities!

Quality of Life Finalists

The Quality of Life Award was created in 1988.This award goes to the contestant who excels in community service and enhances the life of others through volunteering.
