This past weekend, the Reach group went to the Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron. Rev. Walker, also a Canal Fulton native, lead the group on a tour through the facilities. After the tour, we set up and served dinner to those in need.

The Haven of Rest is a faith based rescue mission that offers food, shelter, clothing, and drug rehabilitation. Not only that, but they offer hope to those going through a difficult time in their life.

Helping out at the Haven of Rest was such an amazing and humbling experience. It really reminds us that people don't just CHOOSE to be homeless when they grow up, they become homeless by certain circumstances. I believe reaching out to the homeless in something that everyone should have on their "bucket lists" because it really is life changing to see what these people go through.

Just something to think about.

  1. Yeah, I sort of wanna smack anyone that argues that people who are poor are poor because it's their fault or because they're lazy or because they're crack heads and don't want to work. Drives me nuts.

You do a good thing for people who were dealt a bad hand in life.

    Keep it up :p
